What is a d100?
A d100 produces a number from 1 to 100. At the table it is usually rolled with two ten-sided dice: one for the tens (00–90) and one for the units (0–9), where 00 and 0 together read as 100. Some people own a golf-ball-like 100-sided die (a Zocchihedron), but two d10s are more common and easier to read.
Games and tables that use percentile dice
- Call of Cthulhu and other Basic Roleplaying games: roll equal to or under your skill percentage to succeed.
- Wild Magic Surge tables for sorcerers and other d100 random effect tables.
- Treasure, loot and random encounter tables in published adventures and generators.
- Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay skill tests.
How to read a percentile roll
With two d10s, a tens die showing 30 and a units die showing 7 gives 37. A 00 with a 0 is 100, and a 00 with a 5 is 5. The online roller does it all for you and shows the final number. Every result from 1 to 100 has a 1% chance.
Percentile skill checks
If your investigator has Spot Hidden 60%, any roll of 60 or less succeeds: a 60% chance. In Call of Cthulhu 7th edition a result at or under half your skill (30) is a Hard success and at or under a fifth (12) an Extreme success. Roll here, or keep your characters and their rolls in the Rollune app.
